It is important to appreciate that there is a very wide range of customers, which use the products of the tourism industry.  Customers may be individuals or groups, be of different age groups or from different cultures.  Some customers have more money to spend than others.  Some customers will visit the same organisation regularly, others will visit only once.

Customers will need to know that they are safe and that their security has been considered.  They will require a range of information about the organisation they are visiting – sometimes months in advance. 

Customers with special or additional needs will need to know that they will be looked after properly.
