Can still be active into their late 70’s or early 80’s and are still able to travel extensively.  They might travel with their children and/or grandchildren and participate in a range of activities.  They might well travel off-season to enjoy discounted prices or to escape the UK’s winter weather.

Facilities are needed for the parents of babies to ensure their health and safety.  These include changing facilities, cots and high chairs in hotels and facilities for pushchair hire in attractions.

Perhaps up to the age of ten are more independent and are able to, for example, enjoy some of the rides in a theme park, either on their own or with an adult.  Some attractions, such as farm attractions and some zoos cater specifically for younger children.  

Like older teenagers will be mostly independent of their parents.  The most extreme rides in theme parks are designed with young adults in mind.  This age group may also want to explore the package holiday and night life popular in certain Mediterranean resorts.  

Will be undertaking tourism activities either with their children or as a couple.  They may want to experience the same sorts of holiday that they had with their own parents and will expect tourism organisations to meet their needs as well as those of their children.  

Especially those 18 and over will be able to make their own bookings for hotels and holidays, and travel independently of their parents.   They will be able to make more choices about tourism activities. 

Might still require changing facilities but are old enough to participate in more activities.  Sand pits, swings and slides might be provided and airlines supply special seatbelts for children aged two and over (who are usually required to pay for their flight).

Will expect or are likely to want to experience the ‘white knuckle’ rides of theme parks and may be able to have more independence in a hotel or resort.
